Hi William! That’s a very interesting question and I honestly have no idea!
A quick search in google tells me that ants are the most abundant insect in the world! There are believed to be 10-100,000 trillion ants in the world with more than 10,000 difference ant species!

Do you have a favourite insect?

There are a lot of beetles worldwide, they are supposed to be one of the groups with more species. But recently some people were talking about parasitoid wasps, which are very tiny wasps that grow inside other organisms, and because they are so minus, they think there are more that we know now.

Hi, going by amount of species beetles would win. there is over 350,000 known species of beetles on the planet, but as Aisling said there is loads more individual ants in the world. 2 fun facts for you, 1) the weight of all ants combined is the same weight of all the humans on this planet! how cool is that, you have to remember how light ants are which means 2) there is at least 14,000 ants per person on earth so to figure the amount of ants out you would have to time 14,000 by 7.6 billion! thats a big number!
