Hi Anon. Interesting question. Personally, I don’t really like eating pizza with coke. I prefer pizza with buttermilk.

100%. Although, nothing beats Lilt – old school, underrated and complements the savouriness of pizza to a tee.

It would make the pizza rather soggy. I prefer tomato, sweetcorn and some jalapeno.

Seriously though, Coke contains caffeine (apart from the caffeine free version) which adds a little bit of bitterness to the sweetness of the sugar and this increases the amount of interaction the drink has with receptors on our taste buds and the combination of sweet and mildly bitter taste is liked by a lot of people.

The tomato sauce and many of the toppings on a pizza make them actually quite sweet tasting, so drinking some Coke with it might actually reduce (just a little bit) how sweet it tastes? Perhaps????

I pick pizza on its own! Although pizza isn’t the healthiest food in the world it is much healthier than coke. Even a simple cheese and tomato pizza has carbohydrates from wheat flour in the pizza base that give you energy, nutrients and minerals from the tomato sauce, and protein and fat from the cheese to give you energy and feed your muscles. On the other hand, coke contains sugar and not much else. This might give you a quick energy fix, but otherwise it has no nutritional value.

I don’t like coke!! But I LOVE pizza 🙂 I actually like to sprinkle some salt over my pizza to bring out the flavours. And make sure there’s lots of cheese!!
