I live in Manchester with my Husband. I really enjoy playing Animal Crossing in my spare time, or doing Yoga.

My Work:
I am finding out quicker ways for Doctors to see if a person has an infection! I take the DNA out of bacteria and add it to special magnet-like particles which can stick to the bacteria and show a visible colour change!

I am a microbiologist so that means that I grow bacteria on plates. I then have to find ways of diagnosing these bacterial infections really quickly.
-
My Typical Day:
I go into the lab, where I grow bacteria on special agar plates which look like jelly!

I wake up, and go into the lab! I usually have agar plates full of bacteria already, but usually have to make a lot more.
After that I need to take the DNA out of the bacteria and make a lot more of this! I use a special machine called a PCR machine.
Whilst this is running, I use my computer to write up some data and at this point I’m probably having my third coffee of the day…
When my PCR machine is done, I take out the DNA in tiny tubes and use a lot of different chemicals to make sure that it has worked!
