Education:
I went to a high school in West Bengal (India) in a small village 200 Km from Kolkata.

Qualifications:
After graduating from the high school, I went to do my undergraduate studies in earth sciences at Jadavpur University in Kolkata. Then I became interested in freshwater as one of the most precious resources we have on our planet and how we can understand where it comes from, where it is stored and what affects its quality for sustainable use of water. I did my PhD on water related issues (related to chromium and uranium contamination and how bacteria help remove those toxic metals) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. Then I worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (California) and University of California, Berkeley as a post doctoral scientist.

I moved to the UK in 2016 to start my job as a Lecturer in isotope geochemistry at Royal Holloway, University of London.

About Me:
I am an environmental geochemist, working on heavy metal and radionuclide contamination of water. I live in Wokingham. I like reading, long distance running and hiking.

On a typical day, I run experiments in the lab, run a mass spectrometer and teach BSc and MSc students.
