I work from home but also go to networking events when I meet other people and discuss what they would like to do with their careers and advise the on courses of action they can take with me in order to get to their intended goals.
Work with undergraduates at University, those who have already worked and want change within their profession, those who have lost their jobs or taken voluntary redundancy or others who are seeking part time work as a consultant and need advise on planning this so they can get the ball rolling.
Having a Management background has also helped me to work with my professional body and my roles there are twofold. First as a Consultant within the RSC’s Chemical Consultants Forum and lately as a member of the Management Group of the RSC as an advisor on a range of topics which arise at the interface of the two professions. I also go to London for meetings at the RSC’s offices.

My Typical Day:
Check emails and deal with client enquiries and then attend meetings or go to visit clients at their bases.

I review CV’s SWOT analysis, clients documents regarding their situations which involves a lot of admin type of work on laptop and usually start work at 8.30am. Take a break for coffee
10-30ish and then press on till lunch 12.15-45.
Occasionally have Zoom sessions whereby we have virtual meetings in the afternoon and try to finish by 4.30pm.
On days when I am “on the road” these start around 8.30 am and take train to London for a set of meetings and rarely home before 10pm.
Sometimes I also have overnight visits so tend to stay in a hotel close to meeting venue so can have an early start.
